The Lafferty Heating Difference

Since 1985, our knowledgeable heating technicians have been the trusted source for professional furnace services in Cambria, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and the surrounding area.

We use diagnostic tools to get hard data about the vitals of your heating system. We never settle for subpar performance readings.

We take extra strides with Manual J load calculations to ensure new installations are perfectly sized to customers’ homes.

We’re the only HVAC and sheet metal company in the region, ensuring that your furnace also receives high-quality ductwork tailored to your unique installation.

We pull building permits for every new furnace, giving you peace of mind that your installation will be completed without error.

Furnace Installations and Replacements in SLO County

Our furnace installations are accurately sized to meet your home’s heating demands. We always perform a Manual J load calculation to account for any variables that may affect how well your system performs. If requested, we can even do blower door and duct leakage tests for ultra-precise load calculations.

Other contractors usually skip this step and install an overpowered furnace instead, causing wasted energy, expensive utility bills, and excess strain on your HVAC system. At Lafferty Heating, we do things the right way the first time. We seal all high-pressure connections, install the correct ductwork, and check system performance post-installation to ensure your furnace is perfectly tuned for your home.

Furnace Repairs and Maintenance

We proudly work on all makes and models of furnaces, regardless of age. Many of our customers come to us for a trusted second opinion, or when other contractors’ work has failed them. With 65+ years of field experience on our team, there’s no problem we haven’t seen. Our repair process involves:

01

Initial Phone Call

We gather as much information as possible and, when feasible, help you solve your problem without a service call to your home.

02

On-Site Diagnostics

Using our specialized equipment, we take your furnace’s vitals and identify the root cause of your issue. No guessing, just testing.

03

Lasting Solutions

We work hard to keep your furnace going for as long as possible. Most contractors will only condemn furnaces more than 10 years old and push expensive replacement. We respect our customers’ decision to repair older systems and will always do everything we can to accommodate you.

Custom ductwork for furnace

Custom Ductwork Solutions

Too many furnace installations in Cambria just plug new furnaces into old ductwork boxes, which can be up to 40 years old. Unfortunately, these boxes (called plenums) often have insulation on the inside that traps dust and releases fiberglass particles into the forced air. Wherever possible, we build brand-new plenums and insulate the outside, rather than the inside, so that there’s never any fiberglass in the air you’re breathing.

Ductwork is the core of your heating system, so you should hire a heating contractor who knows how to work with it. Furnaces are already lab-tested when they leave the factory, but ductwork is left entirely up to the contractor’s abilities.

We have in-house sheet metal machinery, right here in Cambria, that we use to fabricate ductwork. Most contractors don’t have this equipment on hand, so they resort to shortcuts during the installation process. But at Lafferty Heating, we:

  • Design, fabricate, and install custom ductwork systems from the ground up.
  • Install the right fittings and transitions instead of cutting corners with flexible ductwork.
  • Create tightly sealed ductwork that doesn’t waste energy or reduce your comfort.

Our Building Science Approach for Proven Performance

Our customers receive more than a top-performing furnace; they also receive proof that their system is performing that way. When you install a new furnace with Lafferty Heating, your system gets a third-party letter grade from one of our testing tools. It analyzes nearly every aspect of furnace performance, from airflow and static pressure to combustion efficiency.

We use this rating to give you clear evidence that your new heating system and ductwork are working as optimally as possible. We’ll never walk away from your home without telling you if our tool returns anything less than a clear “A.” Professional workmanship and peace of mind are how we do business.
